Meds by Mail is CHAMPVA's mail-order pharmacy: maintenance medications shipped free — no copay, no deductible — in 30-, 60-, or 90-day supplies, exclusively for beneficiaries with no other prescription drug coverage.
The defined term, and the rule inside it
Three elements make the definition: free (nothing owed at any point), maintenance (ongoing medications, mostly generics — acute and controlled prescriptions route to OptumRx retail), and exclusive (any other drug coverage — a PDP, an MAPD, an employer plan — ends eligibility; Original Medicare alone doesn't count). That third element is why the term appears in every CHAMPVA enrollment decision on this site.
